We left Texas and flew into San Francisco for our first-time visit last Wed., March 14. We asked the rental car attendant if she could recommend a good seafood restaurant that was known for good food rather than a tourist-attractive atmosphere. She, without hesitating, recommended Scoma's. We dropped off our luggage at our Fisherman's Wharf hotel and headed for Scoma's. We were flight-weary (had been up since 4 a.m. our time -- 2 a.m. your time), dressed in shorts, Texas A&M t-shirts & sandals ... very casual. We stepped inside Scoma's and immediately felt underdressed and like maybe we should come back later. However, a hostess greeted us immediately and was so very hospitable -- we received no sense of being inappropriately dressed. Our server was Michael and he was so friendly and helpful. Our three children had never had crab before and were unsure how to eat it. He, with any sense of being condescending, showed them how to crack it and remove the meat. Bottom-line ... everyone at Scoma's treated us as if we were important guests -- with warmth and hospitality. The food was unbelievably good. We will remember it for a very long time. Thank you and your employees for a wonderful first impression of your beautiful city. If ever we get the chance to return, Scoma's will be top on our list to visit. We will definitely put it our list of recommended travel destinations that we share among friends! Thank you -- special thanks to Michael for his kindness.

We were in for brunch a few weeks ago and were blown away by the service. I am allergic to shellfish and you went completely out of your way to be 100% sure my food would not touch any shellfish. Best service we have had in a very long time. Not to mention even the non-shellfish food was excellent! Thank you!

I was there Friday Febuary 16. You are so busy, but your hostess, Mary Ann Joaquin, was very attentive to my family and I. Just letting you know, she is a great asset to your place. Food is awesome and great service from, Ms. Joaquin.

I can't believe I never ventured into your restaurant until just last Thursday. My daughter lives in SF and she too has never been there. My wife and I ate at your restaurant the day after Valentine's Day on our way to visit our daughter(she was too tired to go out to eat after just returning from New York). Your valet parking was appealing to me and I was tired of the other restaurants at Fishermans Wharf and just wanted to try something different. You exceeded my expectations! Thank you, Thahnk you. I can't wait to come back. Don't change.

Yesterday my family and I were seated for lunch at 11:30 AM. We came to celebrate a 90th birthday milestone. Some of us were Italian nationals and others of us 1st generation Italians that grew up in North Beach.

I'm writing to say that the experience was a truly delightful one on all counts. On a scale of 1-10 hands down I rate it a 10 for quality of food, service and ambience. This in a day where customer service virtually leaves very much to be desired everywhere you go. I felt that I was living again back in the 60's when excellent customer service was a given in restaurants, department stores, etc. It's obvious that you hand-select your staff in a controlled setting. Our server was Han Min, an attractive, poised professional whose service was executed in the smoothest, flawless possible manner. She had the right formula in terms of her attentiveness level without overdoing it, was knowledgeable about all items on the menu and gave very helpful suggestions. This is a valuable employee. Please pass this information on to her. (smile)

Personally, all food items were outstanding (being true Italian gourmets, we know good food) and the four other members of our party were equally thrilled with such a positive experience. We left happy, satisfied and most of all pleasantly surprised with the excellent customer service.

I wish you continued success in your endeavors and you can count on the fact that we'll be back!

Tanti saluti e auguri di buon proseguimento,

An Australian couple I met on a cruise a few years ago are flying out of SF after an extended holiday to British Columbia with skiing in Colorado. Since we are only going to be in SF together for one night, I suggested we go to Scoma's for dinner. I moved out of the Bay Area years ago, now living on the Central Coast in San Luis Obispo. My friends are more than willing to give up their 'other' wharf restaurant of choice from two previous trips to defer to my local expertise. I will definitely be trying your clam chowder to see how it compares to the best clam chowder I've ever had from Splash Cafe here in San Luis Obispo. Although it's been several years since I've had the pleasure to dine in your restaurant, I look forward to treating my friends to an evening at Scoma's that they will never forget. See you on Jan 18th!!

Dear Scoma's: I had the immense pleasure of visiting your restaurant for the first time on a recent trip to the Bay Area. The lobster bisque was OUT of this world, with a delicate lobster flavor and luxurious mouthfeel. Looking at the menu, "Broiled wild king salmon with roasted potatoes and spinach" sounds like nothing especially good, but lo and behold, a beautiful filet of salmon was set before me, a crisp, lightly peppered crust hiding impeccably cooked flesh. And the flavor of wild king salmon is utterly inimitable, and I can't ever go back to farmed fish. Even the potatoes were tender and deliciously earthy, and the spinach was neither crunchy nor slimy - perfection. Thank you for a truly glorious meal--my greatest compliments to the chef.

In August we celebrated my grandparent’s anniversary. We had a fun filled day, that started with lunch at scoma's, wandering around pier 39 and then we went to the Giant's baseball game. I just thought that this was quite a picture. Thanks for serving such great food. We have been fans of yours for such a long time. Keep up the good work.

I have eaten several times at various dining establishments on Fisherman's Wharf. I recently visited again and wanted to try a different restaurant. The couple that came along with my wife and I recommended your eatery. What a delightful experience. It was only a 15 minute wait and then we were treated to a memorable dining experience. The professionalism of your staff and quality of the food was something that my wife and I will never forget. We will definitely come back again.

We had two of the best dinning experiences during our recent stay. Our dinner was so fabulous that we had to come back for lunch the next days! The food was incredible and the service amazing - both John & Sean made our visit one of the best we've ever had. We loved the caesar salad with crab... Thanks!

I just wanted to thank you for the way that you handled a dinner for my daughter and her husband for their one year anniversary on July 1. I prepaid the dinner and everything was perfect. You made them feel special, seated them right away at a great location, the host/hostess was great, the waiter was great, and the food was superb. It could not have been a better evening for them. Thanks again.
